Cheryl Purcell specializes in Kerry Blue Terriers. She had bred and shown them for years. In this lesson, she is working on a retired AKC Champion that was recently groomed for a grooming competition. This video is packed with valuable grooming knowledge only a highly experienced stylist would be able to share.

Cheryl demonstrates how to get the most out of your dog with lots of trimming secrets for this breed. She leads you through common styling mistakes she sees all the time in the ring. Cheryl discusses the faults she sees while showing you how to tweak the trim. By the end of the video, the dog looks much more stylish with some minor changes. She’ll show you how to create a beautiful neck, streamline the head, show power, build the body and highlight correct movement in the breed. Cheryl also covers how to produce the unique marcel coat found in the Kerry Blue.

There is so much valuable content in this lesson; we have broken it into four parts so you can get the most out of each section. If youare struggling to master the haircut on a Kerry Blue Terrier – this is the video lesson for you!

The Kerry Blue breed standard calls for a ‘marcel coat.’ Cheryl shows you how to create that coat texture.

In this video you will learn:

  • The tools you will need to create the texture
  • What parts of the dog have this unique coat quality
  • How much water to use
  • How to work with your tools to bring up the marcel in the coat
  • How long the marcel will last.
