This coat type goes by many names, all of which are correct. We commonly see this coat type referred to as wire coated, harsh coated or workers coated. All these descriptions describe coats that, when properly groomed, are hand stripped to maintain a harsh, protective texture. Typical breeds with this coat type include Airedale Terriers, German Wire Haired Pointers, Giant Schnauzers and many mixed breeds.
