Do you have clients who like to push out their grooming appointments?

For most of us, we prefer to see our clients every 4-6 weeks. Unfortunately, it is not always reality. Like with this boy. His owners like him a bit fuzzy. However, they do not bring him in as often as he should be groomed. What do you do?

Jennifer had figured out a way to deal with it while keeping the owner happy.

Jennifer Hecker is an award-winning Certified Master Groomer. She also shows multiple breeds in the AKC conformation world. However, all week long she grooms everyday pets in a salon – just like you.

In this lesson, she is working on one of her regulars. It is typical this Miniature Schnauzer comes in over the six week mark. Every. Time. However, this appointment went even longer than normal with the pandemic facing our nation. He was super furry AND tangled.

Jennifer brushed this guy out in a previously released lesson. Safe & Gentle Dematting Techniques on a Miniature Schnauzer. Did you catch it? If you did not, make sure you watch it.

In this video, she is ready to do the haircut. Jennifer walks you through the steps. Blade choices. Where and how to set the pattern. Shortcuts to make everything go faster and easier. And how to adjust the trim to meet the needs of a client who frequently extend the weeks between groomings.

The techniques she uses on this Miniature Schnauzer can easily be applied to many other breeds too.

In this video you will learn:

  • Where to set the pattern lines
  • How to edge ears safely
  • Shortcuts to make transitions invisible
  • Why mirrors are helpful when grooming
  • How to soften the look of a Miniature Schnauzer
